Nizar Qabbani’s poems are one of the most beautiful I have ever read as his poetry encompasses magnificent metaphors and comparisons. Given the scary news invading social media, I wanted to interrupt the flow of negative information with some beautiful verses of poetry. It’s difficult to find English translations that are faithful to the Arab meaning but if you are interested in his translated poems, I recommend reading his anthology “Republic of Love”.⁣⁣
